Dainty Swallowtail egg

The little yellow dot in the right hand corner (smaller than a pinhead in reality) is the egg of the Dainty Swallowtail butterfly on a lime leaf (see previous post).

Dainty Swallowtail

A book on local butterflies says that the Dainty Swallowtail butterfly uses native (or domestic) citrus, especially new leaves, as host plants for its offspring which explains the fascination of this one for a lime growing in a pot.  So we won't be too upset when we find some leaves chewed in future!

Bursaria spinosa

Bursaria spinosa

Bursaria is sometimes called "Snow in Summer" (along with some other plants that have white flowers in summer!). For some reason our bursaria is flowering about a month later than other bursarias in the neighbourhood.
